The MATIC to POL migration preserves cost basis without a taxable event
The 1:1 MATIC-to-POL migration is a protocol-level token upgrade, not a swap between different assets. Tax authorities in most jurisdictions treat this as a continuation of the original position rather than a disposal. Wag3s transfers the original acquisition date and cost basis from each MATIC lot to the corresponding POL lot so no unrealised gain is triggered and your historical records stay intact.
PoS bridge withdrawals have a checkpoint finality delay
Withdrawals from Polygon PoS to Ethereum finalise only after a checkpoint transaction is submitted to Ethereum mainnet, a process that typically takes 30 to 45 minutes but can extend further. The 7-day challenge window applies to exits from the Plasma bridge (legacy). Wag3s tracks the pending withdrawal state on both chains so your balance sheet reflects the correct position during the settlement window.
zkEVM gas is paid in ETH while PoS gas is paid in POL
Polygon PoS uses POL as the gas token, but Polygon zkEVM uses ETH for gas (following the standard L2 model). A treasury operating on both chains will have two different gas currencies requiring separate FX calculations. Wag3s handles both and applies the correct denomination per chain, producing a consolidated gas-expense view across the Polygon ecosystem.

How does Wag3s handle the MATIC → POL token swap?
As a 1:1 token migration with cost-basis continuity. The MATIC lot transfers to POL with the original acquisition date and basis preserved. No realized gain on the swap — same treatment as a wrapped token conversion.
Are Polygon PoS validator rewards taxable as ordinary income?
Yes, on receipt at fair-value. We book the per-checkpoint reward distribution at the POL price on the checkpoint timestamp.
Does Polygon zkEVM have different gas treatment?
zkEVM gas is paid in ETH (not POL) and the fee structure mirrors L2 patterns — L1 data cost + L2 execution cost. We break them out per transaction.
