Anchorage Digital — bank-grade custody, audit-grade accounting
Anchorage is the only federally-chartered crypto bank in the US. We integrate with their API for institutional treasury accounting that survives federal-bank-level audit scrutiny.
Anchorage Digital holds the only OCC-issued federal crypto bank charter in the US. Their custody is used by institutions that need bank-grade controls — sometimes as a regulatory requirement. The Wag3s integration ingests Anchorage's transaction history via the official API, reconciles against on-chain truth, and produces an audit trail aligned with how a federally-chartered bank's customer would expect to report.
What the Anchorage integration does
Anchorage API ingest
Custody balances and transaction history pulled via the official Anchorage API.
On-chain reconciliation
Anchorage-reported state reconciled against independently computed on-chain truth.
Multi-asset support
All assets Anchorage custodies — BTC, ETH, SOL, AVAX, plus the long tail of supported tokens.
Withdrawal authorization tracking
Withdrawal-approval audit trail surfaces in the Wag3s export.
The connection in 4 steps
Generate a read-only Anchorage API key
In the Anchorage institutional dashboard, create an API key with read-only scopes. Add the Wag3s IP range to the IP whitelist as required by Anchorage's security controls.
Connect via the Anchorage API in Wag3s
Paste your API key into Wag3s. We immediately pull the list of vaults, portfolios, and supported assets under your institutional account.
Backfill historical custody activity
All past deposits, withdrawals, internal transfers, and staking events are ingested and classified — going back to account inception.
On-chain reconciliation runs automatically
Wag3s computes on-chain balances independently and reconciles them against the Anchorage-reported figures. Any discrepancy is flagged for review before posting.
Common configurations
A fund subject to SEC oversight custodies BTC and ETH at Anchorage because of the OCC bank charter requirement from their compliance team. Wag3s ingests custody activity, reconciles on-chain truth, and produces the audit trail their Big-4 auditor expects without manual reconstruction.
A Web3 company custodies ETH at Anchorage and stakes it for institutional yield. Wag3s classifies staking rewards as income per period and reconciles the reward distributions against the on-chain validator data.
Anchorage Digital integration questions
Is the integration read-only?
Yes. We pull custody data; we never authorize a withdrawal. Withdrawals stay within Anchorage's existing controls.
How does Anchorage compare to Fireblocks for accounting purposes?
Both produce the same accounting output via Wag3s. The difference is in custody model — Anchorage is bank custody (you don't hold keys); Fireblocks is MPC (your team co-signs). The integration handles both equivalently from a finance-team perspective.
How are staking rewards from assets custodied at Anchorage classified?
Staking rewards distributed to an Anchorage custody account are ordinary income on the date Anchorage credits them to your balance, valued at the asset's fair market value at that time. Wag3s matches the Anchorage-reported reward against the on-chain validator data and books it as staking income with a cost basis established at the reward fair value.
