Snapshot — every DAO spend traced to its proposal
Snapshot is the standard for DAO off-chain voting. We anchor on-chain Safe spends to the Snapshot proposal that authorized them.
Snapshot is the most-used off-chain DAO governance platform — proposals, voting, results, but no on-chain execution. The accounting trail breaks the moment a Snapshot-approved spend executes via Safe and the proposal context is lost. Wag3s closes that gap. We ingest Snapshot proposals, link each to the Safe transaction that executed it (where the link is published in proposal metadata or configured), and produce an audit trail tying every disbursement to the governance decision behind it.
What the Snapshot integration does
Proposal ingest
All proposals from connected Snapshot spaces.
Vote-attribution tracking
Per-proposal vote results captured for the audit trail.
Safe-spend anchoring
Each Safe execution linked to its Snapshot proposal where applicable.
The connection in 4 steps
Connect Snapshot space via GraphQL API
Provide your Snapshot space handle (e.g. your-dao.eth). Wag3s queries the Snapshot GraphQL API to ingest all proposals — active, closed, and cancelled — with full metadata including voting results and author address.
Import proposal history and vote results
All proposals are imported with titles, descriptions, choice outcomes, vote counts, and quorum results. Historical proposals are backfilled on first connection.
Link proposals to Safe execution transactions
Where proposal metadata includes a Safe transaction hash, or where a matching Safe execution is found within the expected execution window, Wag3s links the Snapshot proposal to the on-chain disbursement.
Anchor treasury spends to governance decisions
Every Safe transaction that corresponds to a passed Snapshot proposal is annotated in the Wag3s audit trail with the proposal title, vote outcome, and link to the Snapshot page — creating a governance-to-disbursement chain of evidence.
Common configurations
The foundation runs monthly grant rounds through Snapshot voting. Each passed grant proposal triggers a Safe multi-sig disbursement. Wag3s links every disbursement to its Snapshot proposal, producing a grant ledger where auditors can trace each payment back to the community vote that authorized it.
The DAO uses Snapshot for temperature-check votes before escalating to on-chain execution via Tally. Wag3s ingests the full Snapshot history, anchors each temperature-check result to the subsequent on-chain proposal and treasury action, and produces a governance audit trail across both off-chain and on-chain stages.
The fund publishes quarterly public transparency reports showing how treasury funds were allocated. Wag3s produces a report linking each disbursement to its Snapshot proposal, vote count, and on-chain transaction hash — ready to publish as a Notion page or PDF.
Snapshot integration questions
Does Wag3s work with all Snapshot voting strategies?
Yes. Wag3s ingests proposal results and vote outcomes regardless of the voting strategy used (token-weighted, quadratic, allowlist, etc.). The accounting integration only requires the proposal outcome and linked treasury action — it does not replicate the vote calculation.
What if a Snapshot proposal is not linked to a specific on-chain transaction?
Wag3s creates a proposal record in the audit trail without a linked transaction. Finance teams can manually associate a Safe transaction with an unlinked proposal in the Wag3s UI. Unlinked proposals appear in a review queue for manual reconciliation.
Is Snapshot X (the new Snapshot UI with on-chain execution) supported?
Yes. Snapshot X proposals with native on-chain execution are ingested with the execution transaction hash directly available in the Snapshot API, making the governance-to-disbursement link automatic without manual association.
