bankingread-only sync Real-time

Wise Business is widely used by globally distributed Web3 teams that pay contributors in multiple jurisdictions. The integration ingests Wise activity via the official API, books FX gain / loss correctly across currency conversions, and reconciles fiat-out-to-crypto-on-ramp flows.

The connection in 4 steps

01

Connect Wise Business via read-only API key

Generate a read-only API token in Wise Business developer settings and connect it to Wag3s. All balances and transaction history across all currency accounts are accessible under one token.

02

Ingest multi-currency transaction history

Wag3s pulls the full transaction history for every Wise Business balance (USD, EUR, GBP, SGD, and 50+ other currencies), including international transfers, currency conversions, and Wise card payments.

03

Book FX gain / loss on currency conversions

Each Wise currency conversion is booked with the realized FX gain or loss using Wise's actual mid-market rate per the API, matched to the source currency's historical cost.

04

Match international payroll transfers to on-chain crypto

Wise transfers to contributor bank accounts (international payroll) are matched by amount and date to the corresponding payroll records in Wag3s. Where contributors also receive crypto, the fiat and crypto sides are reconciled together.

Common configurations

Globally distributed Web3 team paying contractors via Wise

The team has 25 contractors across Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. Payroll is distributed monthly via Wise Business international transfers. Wag3s ingests each Wise transfer, books the FX gain/loss on currency conversion, and posts a per-contributor payroll expense entry to the ERP — replacing the monthly spreadsheet reconciliation.

Web3 company with crypto revenue and fiat payroll via Wise

The company earns USDC revenue on-chain and converts it to EUR and GBP via an off-ramp before sending to contractors through Wise. Wag3s tracks the full flow — on-chain USDC out, off-ramp conversion, Wise transfer — booking the realized FX at each step for a complete cost-of-revenue picture.

DAO with Wise Business as the fiat treasury arm

The DAO converts USDC grants to fiat via Wise and pays operational costs (legal, marketing, accounting) through Wise multi-currency transfers. Wag3s reconciles the Wise fiat activity with the DAO's on-chain treasury, producing a unified treasury report showing fiat runway alongside crypto holdings.

Wise Business integration questions

Does Wag3s support all Wise Business currency accounts?

Yes. Wag3s ingests all currency balances and transactions via the Wise Business API — USD, EUR, GBP, SGD, AUD, CAD, and the full list of 50+ supported currencies. Each currency account is treated as a separate bank account in the Wag3s reconciliation.

How are Wise batch payroll transfers handled?

Wise Business batch transfers (single file with multiple recipient payouts) are ingested as individual transfer records per recipient. Wag3s classifies each line as a payroll expense or contractor payment and books them against the correct GL account.

Can Wag3s reconcile Wise with both crypto wallets and another banking provider simultaneously?

Yes. Wise can coexist with Mercury, Qonto, Revolut Business, or any other banking integration in the same Wag3s workspace. Cross-provider transfers (e.g. Wise → Mercury USD) are tagged as internal cash movements to avoid double-counting in the trial balance.
