Utila — enterprise MPC, multi-org structures preserved

Utila's governance model — multiple organizations, role-based policies, signer rotation — translates cleanly into the Wag3s audit trail.

custodyread-only sync Real-time

Utila is the enterprise MPC wallet for finance teams that need a polished governance model — multi-org structures, role-based approval policies, signer rotation. The Wag3s integration captures all of that in the audit trail: the org / sub-org hierarchy is preserved, every transaction's policy rule and approver list is recorded, and balance reconciliation runs against on-chain truth.

What the Utila integration does

Utila API ingest

All orgs, sub-orgs, vaults, and transactions in one workspace.

Governance policy capture

Policy rule and approver chain per transaction.

Org hierarchy

Multi-org structures preserved for consolidation reporting.

The connection in 4 steps

01

Connect Utila via API key

Generate a read-only API key in the Utila admin console and connect it to Wag3s. All orgs, sub-orgs, and vaults under the key are ingested automatically.

02

Ingest org and vault hierarchy

Wag3s maps the Utila org / sub-org / vault structure to the Wag3s entity hierarchy, ensuring that custody and accounting structures stay aligned across the organization.

03

Capture governance policy and approver chain per transaction

For each transaction executed from a Utila vault, Wag3s records the policy rule that authorized it and the approver addresses that signed — building an audit trail that matches the governance controls configured in Utila.

04

Reconcile vault balances against on-chain truth

Wag3s verifies vault balances reported by Utila against on-chain state for each supported chain, flagging any discrepancy for finance review and ensuring the GL reflects on-chain reality.

Common configurations

Enterprise treasury team using Utila MPC for multi-chain asset management

The treasury holds assets across Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain in Utila MPC vaults, organized across operating and reserve sub-orgs. Wag3s ingests the full org hierarchy, posts daily JEs per vault to the ERP, and produces a consolidated multi-chain treasury report with governance attribution for the board.

Web3 company with Utila smart wallet for gas-efficient operations

The company uses Utila's smart wallet for gas management across multiple protocols. Wag3s tracks gas costs at the vault level, books them as operating expenses per entity, and reconciles the gas spend against on-chain transaction data for the monthly close.

Utila integration questions

How is Utila different from Fireblocks?

Architectural overlap (MPC custody, transaction policy engine), product differentiation (Utila's governance model is more flexible for multi-org enterprise; Fireblocks's market share is larger). For accounting, Wag3s produces equivalent outputs.

How is Utila's automatic gas management treated in accounting?

Utila's gas management feature auto-tops-up wallets with native gas tokens to ensure transactions execute without manual intervention. From an accounting perspective, each gas top-up is a transfer of a gas asset (ETH, MATIC, etc.) from a designated gas reserve vault to the operating vault — Wag3s records this as an intra-entity transfer rather than an expense. The actual gas consumed in each transaction is then booked as an operating expense at the gas token's spot price at execution time.

How do Utila smart wallets differ from EOA wallets for transaction attribution?

Utila smart wallets use account abstraction, meaning the signer is an MPC key but the on-chain wallet is a smart contract. This can result in bundled transactions, sponsored gas, and internal calls that would not appear in a standard EOA transaction. Wag3s decodes Utila smart wallet activity using the contract event log alongside Utila's transaction API to correctly attribute each sub-operation — ensuring that sponsored gas costs, batch swaps, and contract-initiated transfers are all classified and attributed to the right entity and vault.
